Dear Jura Fans,

Although the Convid-19 virus is still around, the situation in Poland is constantly getting better, and therefore, step-by-step most of the attractions of Polish Jura become again available for tourists.

It is currently possible to trek, bicycle, and horses’ routes are again open; you can visit most of the open spaces of Eagles’ Nests’ Trail; Ogrodzieniec, Ojcow, Pieskowa Skala, Bobolice, Mirow, Olsztyn are partially open for visitors again!
Also, early-medieval hillfort and settlement on Mount Birow in Ogrodzieniec are currently open.

The Lipowiec Castle and Rabsztyn Castle remain closed at the moment (due to renovation works).

Of course, there are still a lot of precautions to be taken; like social distancing, the limited number of visitors, obligation to cover the nose and mouth, recommendation to do not touch anything around!

The caves all around Polish Jura ( including Lokietek Cave or Dark Cave in Ojcow) remain closed at the moment.

Olsztyn – the 2nd of August 2020

Just a few days ago archeologists who currently work on Olsztyn Castle’s Hill discovered a new cave under the castle’s tower. The cave is a part of a complex system of tunnels and crevices in the castle’s hill.
The results of the research show that the cave served as a shelter for Neanderthals and as the castle’s pantry during renaissance time.
Sometime earlier geologists from the Insititute of Earth Sciences of the University of Silesia revealed during their research with endoscopic boreholes presence of rocks voids and crevices. I believe that we might still hear a lot of interesting news from the archeologists conducting the excavations.

Who knows… Maybe the legend about secret tunnels and hidden rooms under the castle echoes the historical true… You might read more about the legend here.

Of course, I will keep you posted about new discoveries connected with this and other Jura’s castles… Whatever is going on in Polish Jura – you can find the news about it here!
